Living for the weekday with DJ BB and Babylon Fox

Brother and Sister, DJ duet BB and Babylon Fox find life experiences are beautiful but are best shared. This week they offer up their current favourite midweek hangs!

Whether you're working a 9-5 or grafting Friday to Sunday. If, like us, sometimes the thought of going out on the weekend is a little too much, and those cheeky adventures out on a school night can be some of the best memories. Our weeknight top picks will make you question whether we should be living for the weekend.

Orii Community at The COLOUR factory

Monday

First up. Monday night. Hackney Wick, East London. Welcome to the Orii Community at The COLOUR factory. Orii means soul in Yoruba and Orii Jamm puts the soul back into a normally dreaded Monday. A platform for new artists and a diverse space for all music lovers to uplift and feed their start of the week within the safe hands of the Orii community. The house band consists of the creator of Orii, Neue Grafik on keys, hosted by Germane Marvel & Richmond, guitarist Tjoe, Benjie on drums, jazz trumpeter Grifton, Luke Wynter bassist and a special space reserved for anyone who wants to express themselves. Dance away those Monday night blues to some of the best musical talent London has to offer and still make it home for the last train.

Steam Down at Matchstick Pie House in Deptford, South London.

Wednesday

Moving onto the midweek slump. Wednesday evenings are reserved for the spiritual awakening that is... Steam Down. At the super flexible Matchstick Pie House situated under the railway arches in Deptford, South London. This place is a small piece of paradise tucked away in the ever evolving, artistic ends and by far BB and Babylon’s favourite pick and said to be “their weekly church session”. Steam Down is an artist collective, weekly event and music community. The evolution into a weekly event where Steam Down artists and its extended musical family create spontaneous soundscapes reflecting their energy is where you can sometimes find BB & Babylon Fox weeping at the pure beauty... Or dancing like there’s no tomorrow and only that moment to enjoy. If you don’t have to be up early, you can continue on your Wednesday evening with Steam Downs's favourite DJ, they’ll be carrying you into the cleanse and are there on hand to bring you back out again. Humpday turns into a revival after a Steam Down experience!

Bar Dona, Stoke Newington, North-West London

An all week favourite... Bar Dona, in Stoke Newington, North-West London. Championing independent creativity and empowered femininity through the arts, cocktails & food. Recent winner of the PRS music venue prize bar Dona's programming lights up every night of the week. Music, drag, poetry, cabaret and comedy to fill those spaces of intrigue throughout the weekday evenings. Fuelled by delicious mezcal cocktails, a delightful interior, Tigre tacos and good vibes only, bar Dona has something for everyone. You can often find BB and Babylon digesting the vibes, spicy margaritas, mango Tostadas and if you're really lucky slinging tunes in this pink palace. Spending weeknights alone or with others, why not try something new this week and find the joy in the day to day with BB and Babylon Foxs midweek hangs and hey who knows we’ll hopefully see you there!
