This Weekend in Norwich...

You thought it would never come. But, you’re finally here - the weekend!

Whether you’ve got a full couple of days off work, or just some pockets of free time - we’ve taken the liberty of rounding up what we think to be the best of what’s good in the fine city this weekend.

Choose wisely…and enjoy!

  1. Avoid the Christmas shopping madness…

and head to one of the many local markets going on this weekend!

There’s the Local Makers Pop-up market happening at Studio 20 which will feature homewares, jewellery, cards, wrap, gifts, kidswear, ceramics + more from a selection of hand-picked local makers.

The Fresh Artisan Market is back at The Shoe Factory Social Club, running from Friday to Sunday with over 50 local, independent creatives selling their wares.

Hit up Anteros Arts Foundation for affordable artwork by over 20 local artists. They’re running a “silly season pop-up shop!” from 13th right up to the 22nd.

And for the plant-based foodies amongst you, St. Andrew’s Hall this Sunday is hosting a Vegan Christmas Fair, providing some alternatives to the classic turkey.

2. Put on your dancing shoes.

If you’re looking to properly let your hair down this weekend, you’re in luck - there’s a few fine options.

Parish are back at Bermuda Bob’s on Friday for another night of house, disco, techno and everything in between. This time they’ve brought along a guest DJ all the way from Newcastle, Quite Frankly, who will be playing alongside some of the city’s finest selectors.

For an alternative to your normal Christmas Party - head down to The Talk for Bo Nanafana Presents The Office Xmas Party for 2 dressed up rooms of live music, DJs, cabaret and naughty installations….

Then, on Saturday Shaolin Digital takes over Bermuda Bob’s bringing a heavy and deep selection of Reggae Digi & Dub tun.

3. Have a giggle, have a discussion, have a listen…

If you’re after some cultural stimulation this weekend, here are some options:

The Norwich Arts Centre plays host to TOAST this Sunday. A new, welcoming and exciting evening of poetry and spoken word from some of the country’s best writers, hear works from UK Poetry Slam Champion, Toby Campion, and scriptwriter, director, poet and theatre-maker, Molly Naylor.

Looking for laughs? The Intellectual Hooligans will be performing on Saturday eve at Bermuda Bob’s with their improvised show. All proceeds go to charity, so you can have a laugh and make a difference!

Sonic Youths have a showcase this weekend, in the NAC bar. 3 new artists, Kitty Perrin, Lemondaze and Limited Time, will be welcomed to the Sonic Youths fam.

Passionate about taking action against climate change? Join kindred spirits Extinction Rebellion Norwich. Extinction Rebellion was created to rebel against the the lack of change following the issue of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s October report. On Saturday you can join the second ER local action, outside Guildhall from 4pm.

Finally, to round of a busy weekend, relax at our favourite, Frank’s, weekly film club. They’ll be getting you in the festive mood with a screening of “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.

Wishing you a very busy/fun/relaxing/wild/cultural weekend. (Delete where appropriate).
