This Weekend in Norwich...

And we’re one week closer to Christmas! Whether you’re making the last minute scrambles to get your Christmas shopping done (us), or if you can enjoy your weekend safe in the knowledge you’re all sorted (jealous) - here’s some ideas for your weekend!

  1. Have a festive boogie.

We are spoilt for choice this weekend when it comes to nights out. With many people having Christmas Eve off work you’ve even got a couple of options for a Sunday night out on the town.

Tropico are back Friday night for a Christmas special. They’re bringing back old pals for this one, so expect b2b's all night long covering all genres from RnB, Disco, Dancehall, Rap and Garage.

Elsewhere, Delores are having their own Christmas Party at one of our all time favourite pubs - The Birdcage. There’ll be 90s/00s RnB, a friendly, welcoming dancefloor filled with balloons and a whole host of pink festive cheer. Lovely.

Saturday night you can have a boogie AND have a bowl thanks to the Soul Stew folk. Now this one is a sell-out, but if you keep an eye on the event page they have hinted some tickets may be available OTD. We’re really looking forward to this one!

808 are making a very welcome return to Norwich after a two-year hiatus, bringing with them another great booking for Norwich - Swamp 81 affiliate and respected producer and DJ, Paleman.

And there’s another party at the Birdcage on the Saturday too - this time with Our House. They’ve teamed up with good friends Bamboo for this all vinyl affair.

Which brings us to Sunday. If you’re still not satiated by all the parties check out Row G Records’s “Sunday in a club. What could possibly go wrong?” to find out what could possibly go wrong.

Elsewhere, trusty local brewers Redwell are hosting their own Christmas party with Tyber & Peter from The Dualer running the show. Forget your overdone Christmas songs - they’ll be bringing the reggae and ska vibes instead.

2. Cosy up to a film.

If you’re not up for going out, but want to get out the house before the inevitable few days of hibernation at Christmas - why not check out some screenings of some festive and some not so festive films.

This week at Sunday Film Club at Franks, they’ll be showing funny, indie coming-of-age movie, Adventureland. This will be followed by live music from Kitty Perrin for an hour or so from 7.30pm, playing live music in their cosy, candle lit front room.

Our favourite cinema, Cinema City, has a few festive screenings over the next week. This weekend, catch Christmas classic Home Alone on Saturday, or on Sunday there’ll be a special live screening of The Nutcracker, performed by the Bolshoi Ballet.

Wishing you a very happy weekend and a very happy Christmas! And we’ll be back next week with our picks for the next big thing - New Years Eve!
