Our House is turning 1, and to celebrate, is bringing super selector Ruf Dug to bring in their birthday.
“We have been lucky enough to spend our first year dancing with some very special people under the discoball in Gonzo's Tea Room. A huge amount of love to each and everybody that has made it down to one of our events and shown support.
We thought it only right that we celebrated our first year with a very special experience. Here's how we decided who our special guest should be...
Our Friday afternoon at Houghton was spent waiting for a break in the grey clouds and heavy rainfall. That break came and as it did it aligned with a magical set from Ruf Dug on a sun kissed Derren Smart stage. Ruf Dug ran through the genres in a beautifully energetic way every song captivated us. We knew at that moment that we needed to bring this man to our party and share him with the rest of Norfolk.
For those that don't know of Ruf Dug here's his bio:
Ruf Dug brings analogue heat, weirdness, expensive records, 50p bangers and a HEAVY VIBE to your party.
The original tropical cyberpunk boasts his own monthly NTS show, runs the highly collectible Ruf Kutz imprint and co-owns Manchester’s newest and weirdest appointment-only record shop, Hi-Tackle, a paradise of vinyl gems and computer games. He also makes tunes that find their way into A-list record bags and has built a reputation for jamming out highly energetic DJ sets that reflect his wide range of influences.
A regular guest at Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section, Gottwood and Houghton, DJs from Moodymann to Ben UFO to Midland to Gilles Peterson reach for his tracks on labels as diverse as Unknown To The Unknown, Golf Channel, Music For Dreams or his latest Man Power remix on Future Boogie. Not content to stay still stylistically, Ruf Dug’s sound is tough to pigeonhole. Blame the esotericism on his nomadic background – brought up in Manchester with summers in Ibiza, Ruf Dug moved to Australia and got caught up in the post-millenial Sydney underground warehouse scene, earning his DJ stripes at squat jams and sex parties.
From the dirtiest cassette techno through the smoothest street soul to tropical island beats; from sensual sunset ambiences through late night disco peakers to burned out boogie – Ruf Dug joins dots like none other, never once losing the connection between the mind, the body, the soul, and the dance.
So please come and join us as we celebrate our First Birthday at a new venue with the cleanest and most potent house sound system in the city.”
